A single RF cable connects the Micom radio to the tuner providing both power and tuner control. The automatic antenna tuner is microprocessor controlled and fast self-tuning designed for Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) operation. The Antenna Tuner meets MIL STD 810D.

Automatic Tuning Antenna System

This versatile mounting antenna system is designed for installation on various types of vehicles. It works with all the Micom-2 and Micom-3 family of radios. The system automatically tunes the antenna to any frequency in the range of 1.6 to 30 MHz and presents a 50 ohm load to the radio. It is designed primarily for voice, but will handle limited data operation as well. A single coax cable is used to provide signal and power to the antenna system. Since you don't need to run a separate control cable, installation is greatly simplified. The antenna tuner is weatherproof, rugged, microprocessor controlled, and mounted in a sturdy metal case. A 12ft (3.7m) 3-section fiberglass antenna is supplied as standard. An optional installation Kit (FLN2684) is available for mounting the system on a Spare Wheel. Many users find that it also makes a good base station antenna by bolting the tuner case to a fixed structure. Attaching ground radials to the tuner case will also greatly improve its performance.
